New Post: combining MW6 and DotSpatial

I have tried to combine the latest MapWindow 6 source (mapwindow6-81799) to work with the latest DotSpatial source (dotspatial-72007)
but no success. I am using Windows 8, VS2012, fw4.0 client, anycpu. I read "How to Build.txt".
Builds with no errors but when launching MW6 app the followings errors keep occurring:

"Skipping extension DotSpatila.Plugins.Ribbon, Version=1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null. Could not load file or assembly 'DotSpatila.Data, Version=6.11.9.6, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c29dbf30e059ca9d' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

Please for any suggestion.

Hi

I'm trying to use mapwindow6.dll in my visual studio gis application and each time I want to run my application , the following error shows up

"Could not load file or assembly 'MapWindow, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=ca60e6823c3a6ee5' or one of its dependencies. Le fichier spécifié est introuvable." I have no idea about how to solve this especially that I need this work in my studies.

Dear Sirs,

I have issues with my developments. I am using a user control as a view (via CWinFormsView) in my MFC program and I want to load Ribbon extensions. I have tried to follow the examples but The followings errors keep occurring.
Downloading a Ribbon extension...
Downloading a Dockmanager extension...
Downloading a Menubar extension...
Then
A IDockManager extension must be included because a UI plugin was found. See http://wp.me/Svy5A-2v

A IHeaderControl extension must be included because a UI plugin was found. See http://wp.me/Svy5A

A IStatusControl extension must be included because a UI plugin was found. See http://wp.me/Svy5A-2v-2v

I have gone through the tutorials in the above link.

The map loads normally afterwards but no ribbons and no menu. I am finding it hard so I will appreciate help from you.

I have these in my c# map module:

Hello

I have downloaded MapWindow 6 from http://mapwindow6.codeplex.com/releases/view/87874.

With the two types of download (61.2. zip or installer), I have the same problem : it crashes at startup on my W7 PC.

The problem occurs in the "Loading extensions ...." phase.

I have tried also the 6.1.1 zip file, but I have the same problem....

It is working fine but when i click on map selection change I need to get the attribute values .

Disclaminer: I just downloaded this program yesterday!
Question: is there a way to rotate labels to align with lines? I'm used to ESRI where I can place one label that curves, or is at least parallel to a road centerline and I can remove duplicate labels. Any such thing in MapWindow 6?

I tried to install MapWindow in Windows 8 Home - 64bit and it will not run.

I also tried to run it under Windows 7 compatibility mode and it still wont run.

I found a possible solution at the 7th tutorial doc Shape file label operations~ Tutorial (7)

But

I used the code and did the NET4.0 instruction, but this isnt working yet, it generates 2 errors, one in each sub.... 1) Access..... through qualifying expression will not be evaluated AND 2) data is not a member of Dotspatial.Data.Featureset....

Any ideas to give me some direction......... i will first try to solve the 2nd one..... It feels it may have to do with most examples available being outdated but even that I am not sure of....

I have a small dotspatial thingy which could is probably related to mapwingis as well...

My question is, how to generate a shape with ploylines and not one multipart polyline....?

What the code does is....generate a set of loose polylines into one shape where its coordinates is based on coordinates from a list... BakjesLijst...

The red/pink part must be 2 coordinates as 1 only generates errors... (ofcourse)... but in this code it generates two lines at the same spot.... Any idea how to generate loose -1line-polylines into 1 shapefile....?

now i wanna add 26 labels to different layers.Now i have a database and i want to loop it,so that when the program initializes it shows the labels in ma shapefile.my sf.cellvalue(0,a) gets the name from the database and stores it in text,i want to increment some variable into the database using loop.

Hi Mudnug,

Today (25 July 2012), I just have MapWindow 6.1.2 installed by my Computer Administrator in my PC that is housed in Microsoft NT4 LAN System. The MapWindow 6.1.2 program in my PC runs OK, but I cannot get legend appeared either. I clicked on File-> Reset Window Layout and nothing happened. Please kindly help and tell me/new users what is wrong in the MapWindow 6.1.2 with legend.zip (updated by you on 3 July 2012) and how to resolve this problem.

By the way, the ClickOnce installer works for most people using Firefox and IE to install the app without Admin rights.

Take note of the rest of downloads page as well:

MapWindow 6 Desktop GIS is an open source desktop GIS for Microsoft Windows that is built upon the DotSpatial Library.
This release requires .Net 4 (Client Profile).

Instead of downloading MapWindow for development purposes, get started with with DotSpatial if you are a developer.

If you're running NT 4 (from 1996) it probably is time to get a new computer. Otherwise, you should be able to install the .NET 4 Framework at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851 and then use the zip.

Be aware that your browser may add an identifier to downloaded files which results in "blocked" dll files. You can follow the following link to learn how to "Unblock" files. Hi Mudnug,

I used MapWindow 6.0 (Orlando) and DotSpatial 12-15-2010 DLL Library (developed by Ted Dunsford) to learn the MapWindow 6 and DotSpatial programming 1.5 years ago. I tried to resume my MapWindow 6 and DotSpatial programming with some difficulties for several weeks: (1) I just realize conclusively that the NuGET Package Manager does not support the Microsoft Visual 2010 Express of .NET 4 Framework in my doing the DotSpatial programming via your way of using the DotSpatial Plugin Template (Online Template in VC# 2010 EXpress). I don't have the regular version of Visual C# 2010 software in my office. Thus, I give up this approach completely. (2) Recently, I checked my old MapWindow 6.0 (Orlando) and found out that it does not work in creating the Point, Line and Polygon features/shapfiles in my VC# 2010 Express for me.

I am thinking to use MapWindow 6.1.2 to do the Open-Source GIS programming in my PC that is housed in the Microsoft NT 4 LAN System in my office - I need an approval from my Computer System Administrator to install the MapWindow 6.1.2. If I download and save the MapWindow 6.1.2 to the PC in my office and then I ask our office Computer Team to install it for me, I don't know to get the MapWindow 6.1.2 downloaded and installed in my PC, because you have 2 different ways of doanloading in http://mapwindow6.codeplex.com/doanloads: (a) RECOMMENDED DOWNLOAD: ClickOnce Installer and (b) OTHER AVAILABLE DOWNLOADS: MapWindow6.1.2 with legend.zip. Please help me and tell me how I can get the MapWindow6.1.2 with legend.zip downloaded and installed into my my PC.

I have brought a 8-Point shapfile to a Map Layer of MapWindow 6.0 (Orlando). I used Google Earth Pro to create a .jpg file that covers the 8-Point area. How can I bring this .jpg file to a new Map Layer (under the 8-Point in the left-pane) and the actual Map (in the right-pane) of MapWindow 6.0 (Orlando)? Please kindly help and advise me how to bring this .jpg file to to a new Map Layer and the actual Map of MapWindow 6.0 (Orlando).
